The Details
In this course, you’ll master the essential skills for both lead climbing and belaying in a gym setting. You’ll gain hands-on experience by practicing lead falls with a backup and receiving direct coaching on proper technique. This course is also an ideal introduction for anyone looking to transition to outdoor lead climbing.
Time Commitment:
This course is a single 3-hour session, designed to give you focused, hands-on instruction without feeling rushed. Please plan to be present for the full duration to ensure you receive all the necessary training and practice.
Equipment Provided:
You'll need to bring your own UIAA or CE-certified harness, a UIAA or CE-certified belay device (preferably a GriGri), and a locking carabiner for the belay device. Bringing your own climbing shoes is preferred, but rentals are available and acceptable. We will provide a UIAA-approved rope. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement.
Prerequisites:
Participants must be at least 15 years old and have successfully completed a Top Rope Belay Safety Check. While there is no formal climbing ability requirement, climbers should be comfortable completing several 5.10 routes on top rope during a typical session.
